About The International Data Evaluation Center
The International Data Evaluation Center (IDEC) is an ongoing research project of the Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. We have a full-time staff of three employees and part-time researcher.

Our Mission

The International Data Evaluation Center supports early literacy achievement using science-based methods in research and evaluation. We use technology to provide educators with the data they need to evaluate their literacy implementations and make timely, well-informed decisions.

The International Data Evaluation Center’s primary mission is to process evaluation research data for all Reading Recovery® programs in the United States. It fulfills a condition of the Reading Recovery trademark, which grants free use of the name and logo under the condition, among others, that all teacher training sites report on each child served. This mandate is explained in the Standards and Guidelines of Reading Recovery in the United States published by the Literacy Council of North America.
IDEC operates this website to enable Reading Recovery and Descubriendo la Lectura teachers and teacher leaders to enter data and download reports and datasets. IDEC also publishes a variety of research reports and is engaged in several research initiatives.
